Throughout history and today, women have been faced with complex challenges preventing them from living their best lives.
Women United is focused on ensuring women have full and equal access to resources and opportunities to help them overcome these barriers. Women United supporters come together in their purpose to create a brighter future for women and their families.
Over 70% of low-wage earners in Edmonton are women.
Your contribution goes directly to United Way programs and frontline agencies in the Edmonton area offering services and resources to women and girls who face intersectional barriers to success.
Women and girls represent 2/3 of family violence victims.
Together, we can build a future where all women and girls have the opportunity to thrive.
$200 can provide one hour of individual counselling for a woman experiencing domestic violence.
$500 can provide childcare for a mother to complete a financial empowerment series.
$1,200 can provide resources to empower 12 women in a job training program.
$2,500 can provide 8 months of trauma counselling to a woman experiencing sexual exploitation.

Through United Way, Women United supporters push back against the status quo and the systemic barriers that keep women and girls from thriving.
Illustrated by Edmonton-based artist Amanda Schutz, this t-shirt’s powerful declaration is a commitment to women and girls in our community — to help strengthen mental wellbeing, empower financial stability, and create equitable access to education. Together, these efforts form a resounding yell against inequality, echoing the determination to build a future where every woman and girl can reach her full potential.

Edmonton-based artist Amanda Schutz‘s illustrations have been in campaigns, magazines, children’s books, and exhibitions across Canada and the United States. She is owner and creative director at Curio Studio and past-president of the Graphic Designers of Canada, Alberta North Chapter. In 2022, Amanda was named a Fellow of the Design Professionals of Canada (the Society’s highest honour). Recently, she has been focusing on a new design advocacy project called Canadian Women in Design. She enjoys design, art making, nature, teaching kids or adults, and collaborating with positive thinkers.
In 2023, hundreds of changemakers across the region chose to direct their United Way donation to Women United. Together, we raised more than $935,000 for United Way initiatives and the front-line agencies we support.
