GenNEXT Cabinet FAQs

As a Cabinet Member, you’ll serve a two-year term, with the option to renew. The full Cabinet meets every two months, while project teams convene throughout the year at varying intervals. On average, Members attend one to two meetings per month, depending on their chosen Project Team.

We understand that balance is important, so projects are spread throughout the year to align with your schedule. Members are expected to participate in at least one Project Team annually, ensuring meaningful engagement without overextending commitments

GenNEXT welcomes individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills. You don’t need to be an expert — just eager to grow. GenNEXT Cabinet is a great opportunity for individuals looking to build on skills they’ve started developing, particularly in areas like public speaking, project management, media and marketing, and fundraising.

Cabinet members gain valuable experience in leadership, project management, communication, public speaking, and event coordination. You’ll also enhance your skills in teamwork, advocacy, and strategic planning — all while contributing to impactful initiatives.

For those interested in media and storytelling, GenNEXT Cabinet also offers the opportunity to get involved with the Do Local Good podcast, whether by hosting episodes, interviewing guests, or learning the behind-the-scenes process of podcast development.

We want to work with you to make this a meaningful experience! While Cabinet membership does require active participation, we structure projects throughout the year so you can engage in ways that align with your skills and schedule. Members are expected to contribute to at least one project annually, ensuring that the workload is shared and impactful.

Not sure you have the time for a full Cabinet role? Join the GenNEXT network! Volunteer and learning opportunities happen throughout the year, and we’d love to keep you connected and involved in ways that work for you.

The application process is simple. Complete the online application form, and our team will review your submission. If selected, you’ll be contacted for a follow-up conversation to discuss your interests and how you can contribute to the Cabinet.

Cabinet terms run from April 1 to March 31, and while we welcome applications year-round, to start your term on time, be sure to submit your application by March 16, 2025.
