Embrace History, Forge Connections, and Savour Indigenous Flavours with Women United

Join Women United supporters to explore the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada during the KAIROS Blanket Exercise, facilitated by Michelle Nieviadomy.

About

In this moving participatory learning experience, you’ll step into the roles of First Nations, Inuit, and later Métis peoples as you navigate the “land,” represented by blankets arranged on the floor. Learn how the colonization of this land impacts those who were here long before settlers arrived. Engage your heart and mind in understanding why the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples is often broken and how we can take an action together.

This event offers bookended opportunities to forge meaningful connections with fellow community-minded individuals. With networking time before the activity and a talking circle afterwards, you can share your perspectives and discuss how, as a collective force, Women United can contribute to truth and reconciliation efforts that build a stronger, more vibrant community.

Plus, savour the flavours of Indigenous cuisine, catered by 100% Indigenous-owned and operated Teepee Treats. Enjoy a delicious meal featuring a donair with an Indigenous-twist and a bannock-infused cinnamon stick for dessert. (Please note any dietary restrictions during online registration.)

5 p.m. – 6 p.m.  Networking
6 p.m. – 7 p.m.  Blanket Exercise
7 p.m. – 8 p.m.  Talking Circle
