An initiative of United Way of the Alberta Capital Region, 211 Alberta is an essential service that helps Albertans find the right resource or service for whatever issue they need help with, at the right time. 211 is available 24/7 by phone, text, and chat. The service is free, confidential, and available in more than 170 languages over the phone.

211 Alberta is the province’s most comprehensive and reliable source of information on health and social services.
The three-digit number allows users to navigate the complex network of human services quickly and easily, helping untangle life’s challenges. With 211, Community Resource Specialists take on that navigation for each user, drawing on a database of resources as well as the expertise of their partners, Canadian Mental Health Association, Distress Centre Calgary, and Alberta Health Services. In fact, 211 Alberta is the only double-accredited 211 service in Canada that is co-located with crisis lines.
With insights from 211 data, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region can help identify gaps in the system and emerging or unmet needs that may require additional resources. This is key to informing United Way’s mobilization of collective action – partner agencies, government, and donors – to ensure no one in our community is left behind.
