The Spirit Awards recognize those exceptional individuals and groups who embrace the notion that ordinary people have the potential to achieve extraordinary things.  This year our selection committee had the incredibly difficult task of sorting through the outstanding contributions of over 125 nominees for these awards.

Motivation, creativity, cooperation and strategic thinking are just a few of the qualities of these this award honors.  Selecting the winners is not an easy task, in fact just being nominated is a testament to the diligence and spirit witnessed this year.

This award is presented to a committee member who demonstrated exemplary commitment, enthusiasm and support to both their fellow volunteers and their workplace campaign.  

Olga Mikheenkova • Alberta Blue Cross (WATCH HER NOMINATION VIDEO)

This award recognizes speakers who deliver outstanding presentations and influence donor support to the community through United Way.

Lincoln Nanaquawetung • CNIB (WATCH HIS NOMINATION VIDEO)

This award was established to recognize the commendable and critical contributions of our Loaned Representative team.  Each nomination is a testament to their unique energy and contribution to the campaign.

Laura Armstrong • Imperial Oil & CEP Local 21A (WATCH HER NOMINATION VIDEO)

This award was created to celebrate individuals who put forward an outstanding effort to support United Way of the Alberta Capital Region.  All nominees for this award have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to our community through their dedication and determination.

Bob Bowhay • Retired, WorleyParsons Canada Services Ltd. (WATCH HIS NOMINATION VIDEO)

Special events contribute to the overall spirit of an employee campaign.  Selection is based on excellence in theme, creativity, participation, awareness, and results.  Having fun is also a must!
